Looking for one-on-one GRE tutors in Needham and Wellesley? Strength in Numbers is your secret weapon.
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a multi-stage adaptive exam used for admission to graduate programs and a growing number of business schools worldwide. The exam takes just under two hours to complete.
It consists of one Analytical Writing section followed by two modules each of Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning. Because the GRE is “section-adaptive,” your performance on the first module of each subject determines the difficulty level – and the scoring potential – of the second. This means that unlocking a top score on the first module with a GRE tutor is absolutely crucial – otherwise, you won’t be able to get to the harder version of module 2.
The timing of the exam is not nearly as breakneck as for some college entrance exams, allowing more time for careful processing.
The bad news is that since the exam is short in terms of question count, each question does carry more weight. The good news is that our GRE prep helps you navigate the short format with a focus on the high-leverage questions that unlock the hard Module 2 and define your score.
The GRE Quantitative section isn’t a “math” test so much as a test of your ability to interpret data and recognize logical patterns under time pressure. Relatively little of the advanced math you’ve learned in high school and college will be used here – as borne out by the fact that the on-screen calculator provided by the test is only a four-function scientific calculator!
The section focuses on four main areas: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Data Analysis. Our GRE prep in Needham and Wellesley focuses on “Quantitative Comparison” strategies—the unique GRE question type that requires you to determine the relationship between two quantities rather than just calculating a final value.
GRE prep with Strength in Numbers will show you how to identify the “traps” and logical shortcuts that allow you to solve complex problems in seconds, bypassing the need for tedious manual calculation. Remember, the GRE – like all standardized tests – is a measurement of whether you can perform precise tasks under time pressure, getting the right answer the first time. Our awesome GRE tutors give you the technical precision needed to dominate the GRE Quant section.
Reasoning, reasoning, reasoning… why is it always reasoning? It’s because the ability not just to “answer questions,” but the ability to engage higher mental faculties, is what really distinguishes the best from the rest.
GRE Verbal is a high-level assessment of vocabulary, reading comprehension, and analytical reasoning. Unlike other exams, the GRE focuses heavily on “Text Completion” and “Sentence Equivalence,” which require a sophisticated understanding of nuance, tone, and sentence logic. These truly are “higher faculties,” not just rote skills. *Cracks knuckles* Our GRE prep in Needham and Wellesley is awesome at this.
We move beyond simple flashcards, teaching our students the structure of complex sentences so they can accurately predict missing words before even looking at the multiple-choice options. This method ensures that vocabulary is treated as a tool for logic rather than just memorization.
You can ace it. We can help. Our GRE prep provides the vocabulary mastery and rhetorical insight to ace the GRE Verbal modules.

As of late 2024, the “Legacy” Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) has been retired in favor of the GMAT Focus Edition. This streamlined version of the exam is designed specifically for the needs of modern business schools, removing the Analytical Writing Assessment and Geometry to prioritize data literacy and critical thinking.
The exam now consists of three 45-minute sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and the high-stakes Data Insights section. You can actually take these sections in whatever order you want, unlike most other standardized tests. Our GMAT prep can help you select an order that makes sense for you!
Because the GMAT is Adaptive, it adjusts the difficulty of questions as you go. This is meant to be a micro-simulation of the fact that business decisions typically do come at you fast and with increasing difficulty! Not to fear – this is an opportunity to be as strategic as possible. Let our GMAT prep in Needham and Wellesley help you ace the test.
You can crack it. We can help. Our GMAT tutors provide the strategic agility needed to master the adaptive algorithm and maximize your Focus Edition score.
The Data Insights section is the hallmark of the GMAT Focus Edition. It requires students to synthesize information from multiple sources, including tables, graphs, and multi-part text passages, to solve complex business-style problems.
This section includes “Data Sufficiency” questions, which test your ability to determine if you have enough information to make a decision – a core skill for any MBA candidate. Our GMAT prep in Needham and Wellesley teaches you how to filter out “noise” and identify the specific data points that drive the correct conclusion without getting bogged down in unnecessary calculations. Often, the answer is clear, if you know how to look at things from the right perspective.
Our GMAT tutors provide the analytical framework to master the most challenging and innovative section of the new GMAT.
In the Focus Edition, the Quantitative section has been streamlined to focus exclusively on Arithmetic and Algebra. Geometry has been removed, but the remaining questions are higher in density and logic. No free lunch here.
This section tests your “number sense” and ability to manipulate variables efficiently. No calculator is allowed. Our GMAT prep teaches you how to move beyond “plug-and-chug” math, focusing on logical estimation and algebraic shortcuts that save precious seconds on the adaptive clock. Since all the questions are multiple-choice, it’s not a matter of computing the exact right answer; it’s a matter of seeing which of these options is the right answer.
GMAT prep with Strength in Numbers provide the technical depth to navigate GMAT Quant with speed and accuracy.
The GMAT Verbal section focuses on Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. This section evaluates your ability to read “between the lines” of business-related arguments.
Our GMAT prep shows you how to map the structure of an argument, identifying the premises, conclusions, and hidden assumptions. By mastering the specific “logical flaws” that the GMAT favors, you can quickly eliminate distractor answers and identify the most robust conclusion.
Business requires fast-paced, accurate decision-making and analysis. The GMAT is meant to test whether you’ve got what it takes. Hint: you do. Work together with one of our GMAT tutors to unlock your top verbal score.

LSAT Prep | The Details
A satisfying career in law awaits. Let our LSAT Prep be your first step to the bar.

- LSAT Prep: Argumentative Writing
As of August 2024, the LSAT has undergone its most significant change in decades: the removal of the Analytical Reasoning section (Logic Games).
The 2026 LSAT now consists of three scored sections: two Logical Reasoning sections and one Reading Comprehension section. There is also a fourth, unscored “experimental” section that could be either type. (You won’t know which section is unscored while taking it, so performance on the whole exam should be treated as equally important!)
Because Logical Reasoning accounts for approximately two-thirds of your total score, mastering formal logic and argument deconstruction is the prerequisite for a top-tier law school application.
Our LSAT prep, with our top LSAT tutors, provides the specialized training to help you navigate this logic-heavy format and hit the 170+ scores demanded by T14 law schools.
Logical Reasoning is the heart of the modern LSAT. Each section presents 24–26 short arguments followed by a question (rarely, a pair of questions) that asks you to analyze the underlying logic.
Our LSAT prep in Needham and Wellesley moves beyond “vibes” and intuition, teaching you to identify the specific anatomy of an argument: the premises, the conclusion, and the hidden assumptions. Our expert tutors cover all major question types, with an emphasis on high-leverage “Flaw,” “Sufficient Assumption,” and “Strengthen/Weaken” questions. By learning to spot “logical shifts” and “scope errors,” you can eliminate distractors with clinical certainty.
Lawyers must be logical, so the LSAT is demanding when it comes to logical reasoning. Our LSAT prep helps you master the formal logic and structural analysis required to dominate the majority of your scored test.
In case you haven’t heard, law is dense and difficult to understand. (Try reading your state’s code of law!)
Accordingly, LSAT Reading Comprehension is not a test of speed; it is a test of whether you can quickly comprehend very complex information. You will face four passage sets (one of which may be a “Comparative Reading” pair) covering difficult, long-form issues. These texts are deliberately dense and filled with competing viewpoints, and you only have 35 minutes for the entire section. If only there were some sort of local, trusted LSAT prep provider who had helped many students ace this section. 🙂
There are strategies to apply here that will also serve you well in your eventual legal career, such as “Viewpoint Mapping” and “Rhetorical Role” strategies – i.e., showing you how to track who said what and why they said it. The goal is to understand the author’s intent and the passage’s logical framework, allowing you to answer global and inference questions without constant re-reading.
You can crack this. Our LSAT prep provides the high-level reading strategies needed to maintain surgical accuracy under the LSAT’s rigorous 35-minute timing.
For most people, “argument” is a bad word. In law, it’s everything. This section evaluates whether you can coherently form an “argument” – which is to say, a defense of a point of view – given complex input information. You do NOT take the Argumentative Writing section on test day – rather, you are granted online access to it 8 days before your planned test date, and retain access up to 1 year after your exam. The essay is completed on your own time, with a 50-minute limit.
While the LSAT Writing sample is unscored, it is sent directly to law school admissions committees and is used to evaluate your ability to argue a position under pressure. Even if you take the LSAT multiple times, you will only need to take the Argumentative Writing section once, as it is included as a component of your actual application to law schools.
The format of this section is meant to mirror the type of decision-making required in law school. You are given a description of a complex issue, along with several viewpoints that represent stances on the issue based on value systems and beliefs. You must then write a cohesive, persuasive defense of a definite stance, using the provided evidence.
We provide the templates and rhetorical frameworks to ensure your writing sample reflects a clear, professional, and logically sound legal mind. Let’s help you turn the unscored writing sample into a powerful tool for your admissions file.
